Lemuel Shattuck published his History of the town of Concord in 1835.
Shattuck explains that the town of Bedford “[was] incorporated principally within the original limits of Concord; and as [its] history is intimately blended with that of Concord, it was thought expedient to embrace within the work the history of [Bedford] since its separate incorporation”. (p v)
