The Town of Bedford celebrated its 150th anniversary on August 27, 1879.
An account of that day was published in the booklet Bedford Sesqui-Centennial Celebration (1879). Reproduced in this section is that work’s first part: Jonathan F. Stearns’ “Historical Discourse”.
Abram E. Brown later wrote in his History:
“This service required many months of careful preparation, and was given as a labor of love. It . . . is treasured as a lasting memorial of this honored son of Bedford.” (II: p 40)
